Indooroopilly, 35-41 Central Ave
The greatest surprise that most people find when they start to object to a development is that the planning codes that carefully outline what is allowable are really only very loose guidelines which in their current interpretation are open to what appears to be indiscriminate relaxations by BCC.
As an example, BCC is currently considering a development at 35 41 Central Avenue, Indooroopilly. This has all the hall marks of relaxation gone to excess.
In its current state the plan will see virtually all the trees including 100 year old mango trees removed, the blocking of sunlight and ventilation to neighbouring properties by the construction of dwellings in excess of 8.5 m 2 m from their boundaries and earthworks and retaining walls that exceed the allowable limits.
The current round of negotiations between the developer and BCC has seen none of the major objections raised addressed to any serious extent. If allowed to proceed, the development will require relaxations for each of the following
and
result in a development which is out of character with the local area. Put
simply, BCC appears not to be enforcing key aspects of the various building
codes designed specifically to ensure that developments are compatible with
this neighbourhood.
